A practical guide to the cost of removing construction and renovation waste — rubble, plasterboard, timber and more — and why weight matters as much as volume.
Builders' waste — rubble, broken tiles, plasterboard, timber offcuts, old bathroom suites — is heavier and more awkward than ordinary household rubbish, so it pays to understand how it is priced before you book.
Priced by volume, capped by weight
Like all our clearances, builders' waste is priced by load size:
- Mini Load (1 cubic yard): £84
- Small Load (2 cubic yards): £129
- Medium Load (4 cubic yards): £219
- Large Load (6 cubic yards): £309
The important detail with construction waste is weight. Each cubic yard includes up to 100kg. Dense materials like soil, hardcore, rubble and tiles reach that limit quickly, so a small but very heavy pile may be quoted on weight rather than the space it appears to take up. Sending us a photo is the quickest way to get an accurate figure.
What we can and cannot take
We routinely remove bricks, rubble, concrete, plasterboard, timber, old units, tiles, packaging and general site waste. A few materials are restricted and must be handled separately — most importantly asbestos, which requires a licensed specialist and must never be mixed into a general load. If you suspect asbestos, stop and get it tested first.
Keeping the cost down
Separate heavy from light. Keeping rubble apart from bulky-but-light waste helps us load efficiently and quote accurately.
Bag loose debris where you can — it speeds up loading, which keeps labour time down.
